Local Ephesus Tour Guides – Meet Kenan Seber, Your Expert Ephesus Guide

Who I Am

Hello, my name is Kenan Seber, and I am one of the top-rated local Ephesus tour guides. I was born in 1973 in Selçuk, a beautiful town next to the ruins of ancient Ephesus. Growing up so close to one of the world’s largest ancient cities shaped my whole life.

From a young age, I was drawn to history, archaeology, and storytelling. That passion inspired me to become a professional licensed tour guide in Turkey. I chose to study guiding at Ege University, one of the best schools in the country.

Most of my professors were experts in history, archaeology, and cultural studies. Many of them worked directly on excavations in Ephesus. That gave me a unique education focused on the site I now guide every day.

You can explore this fascinating place with me on one of our walking tours Ephesus.

Why I Chose to Become a Tour Guide in Ephesus

When you grow up next to Ephesus, every stone becomes part of your memory. As a child, I used to play among the ancient ruins with my friends.

For many, Ephesus is a famous historical site. For me, it is also my hometown and playground.

Choosing to study tourism and history came naturally to me. Ephesus was not just a chapter in a book—it was part of my daily life.

This deep connection makes me different from many guides. I don’t just talk about history—I live it.

Many daily Ephesus tours feel routine or scripted. My tours are personal, lively, and full of real stories.

What Makes My Tours Special

Most visitors only see the surface of Ephesus. With me, you will go beyond the usual facts and photos.

I will show you secrets of Ephesus that many guides don’t know.
These include new excavation updates, unusual legends, and local stories passed down for generations.

As one of the local Ephesus tour guides, I don’t rely only on what I learned in school.
I constantly study new research, books, and archaeological reports.
Our motto is simple: A guide’s job is never finished until the last stone is uncovered.

My goal is to make Ephesus fun, educational, and unforgettable for each guest.

You will learn how the ancient city was built, how people lived, and how it changed over time.

Ephesus: Then and Now

Over the years, I’ve seen Ephesus and Selçuk transform. Thirty years ago, the area looked very different. There were fewer visitors, fewer restorations, and less tourism.

Today, Ephesus is one of Turkey’s most visited ancient sites. New roads, visitor centers, and restorations have changed the experience.

I remember when some buildings were half-buried under soil. Now, those places are beautifully restored.

Because I’ve lived here my whole life, I can explain what has changed and what has stayed the same. That perspective is something only local Ephesus tour guides can share.

Let me bring you into that living memory of Ephesus during your visit.

How I Stay Informed and Updated

Being a guide is more than talking—it’s also listening, reading, and learning. I often join lectures, read academic journals, and visit museums across Turkey.

Every year, new discoveries are made in Ephesus. Sometimes, even a single stone or inscription tells a new story.

When those updates happen, I make sure to add them to my tour content. You’ll always get the latest insights and hidden details during your tour.

This passion for learning helps me give you the best possible experience. Whether it’s a small find or a big event, you’ll hear about it directly from me.

Explore With a Local – Not Just a Guide

Being from Selçuk, I have deep roots in the community. My grandparents farmed nearby, and my family still lives here.

When I say I know every stone in Ephesus, I mean it. These ruins are part of my family’s past and future.

On your tour, I’ll take you to less crowded corners, quiet views, and special photo spots. You’ll experience the ruins in a way many tourists never do.

You’ll also hear stories about the people—not just emperors and kings, but locals too. Many of them shaped the history of this land in small but powerful ways.

What to Expect from a Tour with Me

During our tour, we will visit iconic sites like:

  • The Library of Celsus, The Grand Theater, Terrace Houses, Marble Road and Curetes Street, The Temple of Hadrian, The Agora and public baths

But more than that, I will tell you the real-life stories behind these buildings.

You’ll discover how the city functioned, what people ate, how they celebrated, and even how they argued. That’s what makes Ephesus come alive—not just stone, but soul.
